Membership

AABE-SJC is home to nearly 50 African American and minority energy professionals throughout the southern region of New Jersey. In addition to networking with our organization and greater community, our members also have the opportunity to gain professional skills and actively participate in energy-related issues that affect our communities.

Our Committees

AABE-SJC operates through 10 committees, each with its own leader and goals geared towards ensuring the effectiveness and success of our organization in meeting our goals and implementing new ones.

Strategic Planning (Executive Committee)

​

The Strategic Planning Committee is made up of our organization’s officers and seeks to encourage both the public and private sectors to be responsive to the problems, goals and aspirations of African Americans and minorities in energy-related fields.

​

Mentoring


To develop high school students to understand the beneficial importance of positive thinking, responsible personal conduct, respect for self and others, educational achievement and cultural enrichment. Encourage mature learning and growth by providing opportunities that support education and encourage collaborative and professional dialog within public and private corporations.

 

Golf


To seek, encourage and provide professional funding sources soley for the purpose of providing scholarships for high school students pursuing STEM disciplines and to acquire, establish and maintain professional relationships with local businesses and organizations.

Membership


To recruit and enroll members that will assist in increasing and maintaining the integrity, values and missions of the AABE-South Jersey Chapter. Promote the benefits of the membership in the local and national organization and work with the Executive Committee to address the needs of the chapter members.

 

Education/BEAM


To encourage both the public and private sectors to be responsive to the problems, goals, and aspirations of minorities in energy-related fields. Initiate, develop, encourage and support education and awareness programs through outreach and distinguished speakers that supports learning and growth in providing opportunities that support education and encourage collaborative and professional dialog. This Committee will also develop programs that provide an interactive learning environment for both middle and high school students.

Community Service

 

The purpose and responsibility of the Community Service Committee is to identify, develop an liaison and support community initiatives throughout southern New Jersey, while promoting the missions of the AABE South Jersey Chapter.

Communication/Social Media


Identify and develop recruitment and event advertising via all phases of social media. Responsibilities include the Chapter’s public relations, local and national websites, monitoring of event/activity postings on various weblinks and other duties as recommended by executive committee.

 

Scholarship


Encourage African American and other minority students to pursue careers in energy-related fields providing scholarships and identify other financial aid for such students. Encourage and award graduating minority high school students with STEM disciplines to accredited colleges & universities.

 

Networking


To enhance AABE's exposure to the community by establishing and developing mutual beneficial relationships mostly by sharing knowledge for possible partnerships and joint ventures throughout the business and professional industry.

 

Fundraising


Identify, evaluate and recommend revenue funding sources to provides scholarships for minority students and to sustain the South Jersey Chapter efforts. Members will support the efforts of the Scholarship and Golf Committees.
