The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) is a national association of energy professionals founded and dedicated to ensuring African Americans and other minorities have input into the development of energy policy regulations, R&D technologies and environmental issues.
As part of its mission, the South Jersey Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE-SJC) focuses on scholarships, mentoring, educational awareness, community service and networking. AABE-SJ has nearly 50 active members comprised of individuals from local energy companies, including South Jersey Industries, American Water and Atlantic City Electric.

Community Outreach & Events
AABE-SJC holds several events throughout the year to follow through on its mission to provide scholarships, mentoring, educational awareness and community support to local minority youth and communities.
Mentoring Program

AABE-SJC established a mentoring program for scholarship recipients. The focus and outcome for the program are: Leadership & mentoring building, academic & economic development, and development of career choices.
Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament
AABE-SJC golf event raises scholarship funds to support local students pursuing college degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math
Volunteerism/Charitable Giving
Each year, AABE-SJC participates in numerous community service volunteer opportunities to serve the local community. AABE regularly volunteers with the Atlantic County Food Bank and Camden County Cathedral Kitchen. We also distribute charitable donations to local organizations throughout the year.
